Scavland FAQ
All Questions
Is it spelled Scavland, Scav Land, Skavland or Scaveland?
The game is one word: Scavland, by NoShadow. "Scav land", "skavland", "scaveland", "scavaland" and "scanland" are all common misspellings that lead to the same game. Note that "Scablands" is a geological region in Washington State and "Scav Lands" is an extraction area in Escape from Tarkov — neither is related to this game.
Is Scavland a Zero Sievert clone?
NoShadow addressed this directly in a pinned Steam post on launch day: development began in 2020, before Zero Sievert was publicly revealed, and both games draw on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Escape from Tarkov. The structural difference is that Scavland is a persistent open-world RPG rather than a series of separate extraction runs. We break down the full timeline and the feature-by-feature differences on the Scavland vs Zero Sievert page.
Is Scavland multiplayer or co-op?
No. Steam lists Scavland as Single-player only, with no co-op or PvP categories. Co-op has been requested on the Steam hub since launch without an announcement. Every platform and online answer, with its source, is on the platforms page.
What platforms is Scavland on?
Windows PC via Steam, and nothing else as of 5 September 2026 — no GOG, Epic, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Android or iOS version, and no macOS or Linux build. Steam Deck has not been rated. The platforms page lists each answer with the source it came from.
Is there a Scavland demo?
There was one: NoShadow published a Scavland demo on 9 June 2025 alongside a key giveaway challenge. The Early Access release on 4 September 2026 is the paid build at $19.99 (launch discount 10%).
Does Scavland have codes or cheats?
No. Scavland is a paid single-player game with no redeem-code system, so there are no promo codes to enter. Pages that list "Scavland codes" are filling a search term, not describing a feature that exists.
Does Scavland have autosave?
No automatic save has been documented as of 5 September 2026 — saving is manual, and losing hours to a crash was one of the loudest launch-week complaints on the Steam hub. See the Saves & Death page for what is confirmed about dying, dropped gear and permadeath.
Does Scavland support Simplified Chinese?
Not yet. Simplified Chinese appeared on the store listing at launch before the localisation was finished. NoShadow apologised on 5 September 2026, said it was a mistake, and confirmed the localisation is being produced with a Chinese agency. English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Ukrainian are listed as supported.
Where are the official Scavland Discord, Reddit and developer channels?
NoShadow links its Discord server, X/Twitter account, Patreon and YouTube channel from the official site at scavland.com. The community subreddit r/Scavland exists but is very small; the Steam discussion hub is where the developers answer questions in practice — both pinned launch posts came from Lucas, the game's creator and art director.
Who made Scavland, and what engine does it use?
NoShadow, a studio founded by Lucas after ten years working on other developers' games; UNSUBSCRIBE co-publishes. The team grew from three people to fifteen after investment in 2025. The engine has not been announced — the published minimum spec requires OpenGL 2.1 with GLSL 1.2 and an FMOD-compatible sound card, which tells you the audio middleware but not the engine.
How long will Scavland stay in Early Access?
No target has been published. On 5 September 2026 NoShadow wrote that Early Access "has just started" and that difficulty, balance and localisation issues would be tackled one by one.
Is Scavland too hard?
The developers agree that the opening is. One day after launch they announced a new, more forgiving game mode plus better early-game balancing, hints and guidance, while keeping the current hardcore experience as an option. Until that ships, the Difficulty page collects the settings and habits that actually reduce early deaths.
