Scavland Traders: Restock Times, Ranks & Who Buys What
Sources checked:
The fastest way to waste an hour in Scavland is to haul loot to the nearest merchant and find out they do not buy it. Traders have role-based buying restrictions, price categories differently, keep persistent inventories, and restock on a clock — every day at 06:00.
The five trading rules
| Rule | What actually happens |
|---|---|
| Not every trader wants everything | NPCs have buying restrictions tied to their role, and the same item category can be priced differently depending on who you are dealing with. A valuable item can simply be valuable to the wrong person. |
| Stock is persistent and restocks daily at 06:00 | Trader inventories persist between visits and restock every day at 06:00 in-game. Opening a shop repeatedly before the restock does nothing. |
| Jobs quietly level the trader who gave them | Completing a job gives experience with the NPC who offered it. Ranking up with that trader can unlock exclusive items in their shop, so spreading contracts across every trader spreads your progression thin. |
| Distance can be the pay rise | Some squad hunts and rare item retrieval jobs pay more when their objectives appear farther away — the easiest contract is not automatically the most useful one. |
| Trader rank is not faction reputation | Levelling an individual trader through their jobs is a separate system from the wider faction reputation that governs how groups treat you. |
Traders named in public sources
| NPC | What is confirmed |
|---|---|
| Grigory | Early trader; the achievement "Misery Business" is earned by trading with him over time. Described in-game as "not the best wares, but still a life-saver". |
| Anatoly | The achievement "A Learned Man" is earned by establishing a business relationship with him — the flavour text notes he still seems to despise you. |
| Risa | Not a shop: Risa can offer ways to make amends with several factions after your standing drops. |
Jobs are a progression system, not a payout
Achievements track job volume in tiers: 10 requests ("Hard Worker"), then 30 odd jobs ("No Sleep Till Wyraj") — a useful check on how far the contract loop is meant to stretch. Because completing a contract gives experience with the NPC who offered it, bouncing between every job board spreads your progress thin. Pick the trader whose stock you actually want — gear access runs through trader rank — and feed them contracts even when a rival board pays slightly better today.
Two details change how the board reads: some squad hunts and rare-item retrieval jobs pay more the farther away the objective is, and trader rank is not faction reputation. Levelling Grigory does nothing for your standing with the Rada or the Gunners.
Timing the restock
Stock returns at 06:00 in-game. Re-opening a shop before then will not refresh it, so a sold-out trader is a reason to go do something else — run a bunker, walk an unmapped road — rather than to stand in the settlement reloading the menu. Inventories persist, which also means items you sold stay sold and the world keeps its state while you are away.
