Scavland Map: Zalesye Regions and How It Unlocks
Sources checked:
If the Scavland map looks incomplete when you start, that is intentional. The world map gradually reveals roads and information as you explore Zalesye — which means an expedition that comes home with an empty backpack can still have been progress. Judging every run by loot is how players end up forcing the same dangerous approach over and over instead of finding a safer one.
Locations confirmed by name
Scavland ships no public map export, so the honest list is the one that can be traced to official text. Every row below comes from Steam's own achievement descriptions.
| Place | What is confirmed about it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Zalesye | The region the game takes place in — settlements, common folk, the Rada. | Named in 8 achievement descriptions |
| Eastern Zalesye | A distinct half of the map; seeing all of it is its own achievement, blocked by the Highway. | "The Road to Paradise" achievement |
| Western Zalesye | The other half, described in terms of horror and "the sounds of Great Trains". | "Into the Void" achievement |
| The Highway | The boundary you cannot pass while heading east — the wall the story is built against. | "The Road to Paradise" achievement |
| The Lake | A great lake "with thousands of bodies in its depths", called the symbol of the dying world. | "The Keeper of Mist" achievement (30.6% unlocked) |
| The pre-War underground | Sprawling infrastructure beneath the surface, separate from the generated bunkers. | "Spelunker" achievement |
| Wyraj | Named as a destination in achievement text — a Paradise the narrator doubts they are approaching. | "No Sleep Till Wyraj" achievement |
East, west, and the wall between them
Two achievements describe the map's spine. The Road to Paradise — "I've seen all of Eastern Zalesye, but cannot go past the Highway" — establishes both a completable eastern half and a hard boundary. Into the Void covers Western Zalesye and "the sounds of Great Trains". A third, Old Timer, frames the whole tension: "wanting to go East, but everything pulls me West." Both regional achievements sat at 0.0% when this page was captured.
The world moves while you are elsewhere
Scavland runs a life system: NPCs, factions, patrols and creatures move and interact independently, groups can meet and fight without you, and you can arrive after it is over. Practically, distant gunfire is information, not an invitation — sprinting toward every burst is how you walk between two groups that were already busy killing each other. Corpses now persist longer and restore their state on load, so the aftermath is still readable when you return, and trader inventories persist the same way.
What is deliberately missing from this page
No coordinates, no loot markers, no route lines. Nothing public documents them, and the underground is generated per playthrough so a marked map of it could not be correct twice. What can be said with evidence is above; the rest waits for NoShadow or a verifiable community dataset.
